Job Summary— Recreation Director for Summer Season Only. Hours 8:15 – 3:00

The Recreation Director oversees the daily operation of the summer program, ensuring a safe, enriching, and high-energy environment for participants. This role is responsible for staff leadership, program planning, and acting as the primary liaison between the program, and the Board of Trustees of Winfield Park, and the community.

Key Responsibilities

• Program Leadership: Plan and execute a diverse range of age-appropriate activities outside, including sports, arts and crafts. No cell phones and No tablets allowed. Supervised lunch between
• Staff Management: Recruit, train, and supervise a seasonal team (counselors, activity specialists), conducting performance evaluations throughout the summer.
• Safety & Compliance: Enforce all safety protocols, emergency response plans, and state/federal regulations, including daily health and welfare monitoring of our children.
• Communication: Serve as the main point of contact for parents/guardians, providing regular updates and resolving concerns professionally.
• Operations & Budget: Manage the program budget, monitor expenditure, and maintain inventories of supplies and equipment.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: At least 3–5 years of leadership experience in summer camps or recreational programming.
• Age: Minimum of 21 years old.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Education, or a related field preferred. State fingerprinted.
• Certifications: Valid First Aid & CPR certifications are required.
• Residency: Must comply with the New Jersey First Act, which requires state and local government employees to reside in New Jersey.

• Typical Timeline: July 6 – August 13, 2026 (exact dates may vary ). Hours 8:15 to 3:00
• Work Environment: Primarily active, outdoor settings; must be capable of working in high temperatures for long periods.

Notice to Members:

In New Jersey, when trees fall on power line, the utility company (like PSE&G) is generally responsible for removing the tree and repairing any damage to their equipment. This includes the power line and associated infrastructure.  However, homeowners are typically responsible for trees on their property, including the removal of debris after the utility company has addressed the downed power lines.

Please refer to your Winfield Mutual Housing  Membership Handbook which reads:

FLOODED CELLARS:  All cellars in Winfield are prone to flood.  There are numerous reasons for water in the cellar which include but are not limited to:  sump pump malfunction; seepage; ruptured water heater or water line; sewer back-up; washing machine overflow, etc.  If there is water in the cellar, the member is responsible for mopping up the water and airing the cellar to dry it up. 

In the event a member finishes the cellar, installs a rug on the floor, or leaves any item in the cellar, or on the floor, which can be damaged by water or by moisture, the corporation assumes no responsibility for any damage to the member’s personal property.  Members are encouraged to obtain adequate insurance to cover any loss of personal property.  (See Cellars)
